Why leather looks different
Smoothness, pattern and sheen depend on the surface finish. Texture may be natural or embossed; a pattern alone cannot identify the material. Sergio Belotti belts use 100% genuine leather, while width, layer count, stitching and construction vary by style. Check the specifications and photos of your chosen colour. Do not assume one belt represents the whole collection: similar textures do not necessarily mean the same thickness or softness.
Understanding the reverse side
The reverse of leather can look different from the face and may have visible fibres. That appearance alone does not establish that an item is imitation leather or defective. Equally, peeling, tears or damaged stitching should not simply be dismissed as natural characteristics. Compare the item with the seller’s description and photos. If its condition raises questions, take photos and contact the seller before attempting repairs. “Our belts don’t burn” is our slogan for Sergio Belotti genuine leather. During a brief test with an ordinary lighter for a few seconds, the leather strap does not melt. Use an offcut left over after shortening the belt: a flame can leave marks on the surface.
Everyday care and storage
Remove dust after wear with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding vigorous rubbing. Do not repeatedly fold the strap at one point or tie it into a tight knot. Store the belt without sharp creases, away from radiators and direct sunlight, and keep sharp buckle edges from pressing against the leather. Keep perfume and household cleaning products off the surface. These simple habits help maintain a neat appearance without a complicated care routine.
If your belt gets wet
Blot moisture with a soft cloth without rubbing the wet area, then let the belt dry naturally at room temperature. Do not speed up drying with a hairdryer, radiator or direct sunlight. Do not wash or soak the belt. If a noticeable mark or change in shape remains after drying, consult a leather specialist rather than trying several treatments in succession.
Choosing a care product
No single cream suits every finish. Choose a product for the particular surface and follow its manufacturer’s instructions. Test compatibility on a small, inconspicuous area first and let it dry: colour or sheen can change. If the finish is unknown, ask the seller for guidance. Do not scrape stubborn stains or try to dissolve them with solvents. A leather specialist is a better choice for difficult cleaning and repairs.
