Which belt buckle should you choose?
Look beyond the shape of a buckle. Classic, automatic and clamp buckles adjust differently. The attachment between the buckle and strap is a separate feature that determines whether shortening is possible.

Classic buckles
A prong goes through one of the holes in the leather strap. Choose another hole for a looser or closer fit. Check the hole spacing in the specifications when available: it determines the difference between neighbouring positions. Double-prong styles use matching pairs of holes.
Automatic buckles
These adjust in small steps within the mechanism’s working range. Use the buckle’s release to loosen the belt; its position varies by style. This can be useful when you want finer adjustment than the hole spacing of a classic belt allows. An automatic buckle does not provide adjustment at every point along the entire strap.
Clamp buckles
A clamp secures the strap at your chosen position without relying on holes, allowing continuous adjustment. Release the mechanism before moving the strap, then secure it again. Do not confuse this buckle type with a toothed clamp attachment: the latter connects a buckle to the strap and is used with different buckle styles.
