How to choose a belt as a gift for your father
Your father’s own comfortable belt is a useful starting point. Keep the fit familiar, check his preferred fastening and choose details he will appreciate in everyday use.

Ask what he likes about his current belt
There may be a specific reason for a new belt: a different width, another colour or a replacement for a favourite. Do not infer taste from age. Your father may prefer restrained classics or a distinctive buckle. Asking what works in his current belt, and what he would change, gives you a better direction than choosing something that simply looks “respectable”.
Keep the fastening familiar unless he wants a change
A classic buckle he has used comfortably for years is a sound reference. If he wants a different adjustment method, compare automatic and clamp mechanisms: they are not the same. If your father enjoys understanding how things are made, share those concrete details. The leather’s origin alone does not promise a particular lifespan: construction, use and care all matter.
Present the complete gift and fit it afterwards
